This March I had the pleasure of attending Catalyst Con and while I was there, I got to chat with the folks at We-Vibe. I was waxing poetic about the new We-Vibe 4 and, to my delight, they gave me the new Tango and Touch to review* (yeah, I love my job).
Now, I’ve had a Tango before and it is one of those toys that I would probably run in & save if my house was on fire. I absolutely love it (review for the new one coming soon). The Touch, however, was always another matter. I loved the scoop shape but it was made with the dreaded (for me, at least) shiny silicone and the tester always felt like it dragged across my skin so I never bothered to buy one. But, when We-Vibe came out with the We-Vibe 4, they also revamped the Touch and coated it in their new velvety silicone. Joy! I can neither confirm nor deny that I sat and lovingly stroked the display they had at their table at Catalyst … because that’s not creepy or anything.
For those of you who are unfamiliar with the Touch, here’s the low down. Much like the We-Vibe Tango, the Touch is a powerful (I mean, really powerful) external vibe. In fact, they both have the same motor in them so the vibration intensity is nearly identical. However, where as the Tango is hard plastic and very pinpointed, the Touch has that lovely, velvety silicone that diffuses the vibration ever so slightly. The Touch has 8 vibration modes – low, medium, high, ultra (yes, really) and 4 vibration patterns. Each of the modes is very distinct so you have a lot of variation with this toy.
The big selling point for the Touch, though, is the shape. It has a curved base and a small scoop at the top that cups beautifully over the clitoris (or nipples / testicles / whatever external part you want to put it on). That scoop provides an incredible, enveloping “surround sound” vibration!

Want more pinpointed vibration? No problem! Flip the Touch over and use the rounded point and you have strong, concentrated vibration where ever you want it. And that rounded base I was talking about earlier? It’s so comfortable to hold and would be great for anyone with decreased hand or finger mobility. It’s especially useful as a grip when using it between bodies during penetration. I love We-Vibe Tango but it does, occasionally, go shooting out of my hands when using it during penetration – the Touch stays right where I want it.
But you know what my favorite improvement has been? They FINALLY put in a low power alert so you know when your toy is going to die! Yeah, I know, it seems like a small thing right? But few things in life will make me Hulk Smash like using a toy and having it die suddenly with no warning.
Why didn’t you have a warning light?!?!?!
So is there a downside to the toy? Yes but it’s a small one. My one complaint about it (and the Tango as well) is that it has a one button control. In some ways this is great because you don’t have to look at the toy and figure out what each button does. However, the downside to it is that if you accidentally click past your favorite mode then you have to cycle ALL the way through to get back to it. It’s not a huge deal to me but it might be overly annoying for some folks.
I have been so impressed with this toy that I can hardly believe I shunned it in the past. The new, improved silicone is delightful. It charges via USB which is super convenient. It’s waterproof, quiet, strong and just plain nice to look at. So, if you like strong, external vibration, do yourself a favor and buy the We-Vibe Touch – and then buy yourself a metal lock box because it’s going to be going on your list of things to save if your house is on fire too!
