The Tsunami was one of those dildos that I had coveted for a long time and why not? Tantus is one of the best sex toy companies out there and they make some of the best dildos around. I love textured toys (see my undying love for the Goddess Vibe, also by Tantus) so when I first laid eyes on the Tsunami, it was love at first sight … or so I thought. Once I got my hands on one, it turned out to be an ill-fated romance.
The Tantus Tsunami is a curved, textured, G-Spot dildo with a removable vibe. The vibrator that comes with it is moderately strong and can be replaced with a stronger bullet if desired. It’s made from fairly dense silicone so it has enough rigidity to press firmly into the G-Spot if you like a rocking, come hither motion but retains some flexibility. I say some because this is where the Tsunami and I ended up not seeing eye to eye. You see, the Tsunami is a longer toy – coming in at 6.5″. Most G-Spots live in the 1.5″ to 2″ range of vaginal canal. So, to get G-Spot stimulation from the curve of the toy, I was relegated to using only the first 2.5 / 3″ of it and that just didn’t make me happy because all of the texture of the toy was further back and I really wanted to feel that. However, if I used the full length of the toy to get to the texture, the somewhat unyielding nature of this particular silicone left me feeling kind of sore and battered – even with a lot of lube and warm up. The texture, which I thought I would love, ended up feeling just unpleasant).
To be fair, at the time I tested the Tsunami, I was having issues with my IUD which may have led to some of the discomfort. Since having it removed, I retested the Tsunami and have found it to be more comfortable but still not what I am looking for in a G-Spot dildo – for A-Spot stimulation, however, it’s … spot on (sorry, corny joke). Seriously though, as someone who prefers a rocking sensation against the G-Spot or lots of texture sliding across it, this toy left me disappointed – try as I might to love it.
Does my disappointment mean that the Tsunami is a bad toy? Absolutely not! I think the Tsunami would be great for folks who prefer firmer silicone toys. I also think it would also be fantastic for someone who tends to get better G-Spot stimulation by gripping a toy with their vaginal canal rather than through thrusting or rocking. Finally, it’s a great A-Spot toy for those who love that kind of stimulation. So, even though the Tsunami didn’t work well for me, I think there are folks out there that will really love it.
