Breast Cancer Awareness Month

5 Oct

October is Breast Cancer awareness month and we’ve brainstormed a few ways to actively participate. Whether you’ve got breasts or not*, there are ways to be aware of, acknowledge, and learn how to support breast cancer.

*Just a reminder that everyone, regardless of sex, gender, or chromosomal makeup have breast tissue. A little more on that here.

One way to take personal initiative would be to create an early detection plan. The National Breast Cancer Foundation has created an awesome and easy to follow guide for early detection that includes breast self-exams, mammograms, signs and symptoms, and steps that can be taken to decrease the risk.

Don’t forget to perform your monthly breast exam

It’s also a great time to support an organization that benefits breast cancer education and/or breast health services. One such organization is Living Beyond Breast Cancer. They provide programs and services to help people whose lives have been impacted by breast cancer

Living Beyond Breast Cancer has recently collaborated with well-known adult toy company CalExotics to bring the Inspire line. We’ve begun to carry some of these products and are excited that a portion of the proceeds from these products goes to Living Beyond Breast Cancer.

Among the collection is a tongue-like Flickering Arouser, and a remote-controllable Teaser that provides a discreet way to enjoy vibration.

The Inspire line also features a Dilator Set. Dilators can be helpful for those who have had a vaginectomy or for those who are experiencing perimenopause or have experienced menopause. In addition, using dilators can be especially helpful to folks who have had breast cancer treatments, as these can sometimes induce early menopause.

The Inspire dilator set has been designed to help restore and revive vaginal strength and comfort through gradual dilation. Each of the five dilators is ergonomically curved for ease of use and comfort.

Finally, don’t forget to take some time to connect with your body, whether that means taking time to do a self-exam, sensual body massage that focuses on the breasts (perhaps with some massage oil), or masturbation. As always, we’re here to support your exploration and growth.
